Stan Levco

Stan Levco is the former elected Prosecutor in Vanderburgh County.


Levco attended and graduated from the University of Massachusetts before becoming a student of law at Indiana University. After his graduation from Indiana University and admission to the Indiana Bar in 1972, Mr. Levco began his legal career as Chief Deputy Prosecutor in Posey County.

After serving as a Judge for four years Stan accepted a position in the Vanderburgh County Prosecutors office that he eventually rose to lead in 1991 as the elected Prosecutor. He has presided over this office for the past 20 years through five City Administrations.

As Prosecutor, Mr. Levco has tried approximately 200 cases before a jury of Hoosier citizens. These trials have virtually all been felonies, including over 20 murder trials. He has also served as Special Prosecutor in Posey, Gibson, Warrick, Clark, Sullivan, Knox, Daviess, Lawrence, Pike, Vigo, and Monroe County.


Levco wrote humor columns for the Mount Vernon Democrat, Evansville Press and Evansville Courier. He has published two books, The Best of Stan Levco and the Second Best of Stan Levco.

Personal Life

Levco lives with his wife and he has two daughters. Levco is a frequent competitor in local running races, and an avid New York Yankees fan.
